Lately....

We have had a very busy summer so far and are loving every minute! Our girl is healthy again...praise! We have been having a lot of outside time....pool, swingset, bike rides etc. We have also been going to gymnastics, the library for story time, and Starbucks to see Mrs. Nusha and the Puppet Lady. Brother has joined us on most of our outings and has been such a trooper. He is just the sweetest baby!

Jackson and Abby came to play (this was before AK's hospital stay and you can see how pale she is!)

Visiting with pa......

and Nanny

We went to the new water park in Kinston and had a ball!!

There was so much to do.....even for the little ones!

Corban 2 Months

Corban was 2 months old on Monday, April 10th. He is just the sweetest baby boy! We could just eat him up!

My favorite thing recently is all of the sweet smiles and "talking" - he has a lot to say! :)

At 2 moths......

  • 13.6 lbs - you are a big boy!
  • 23.25 in
  • you are maxing out 3 month clothes!
  • we have you in your crib now for night time and most naps (you love the swing too!)
  • you love to follow your sister with your eyes
  • bath time is probably your favorite thing right now
  • you enjoy books and have recently found the TV
  • we love you to the moon and back!
the smiling/cooing started at about 7 weeks

TEC

Our sweet girl gave us quite the scare last week!! We ended up in the hospital Thursday after labs showed an extremely low red blood cell count.

Transient erythroblastopenia of childhood (TEC) is the diagnosis the hematology team gave us Friday morning. At some point in the last couple of months AK picked up a virus that ended up attacking her bone marrow and shutting down her red blood cell production. No one really knows why or how this happened.

This was right before I took her to the doctor. I didn't realize how pale she had gotten!

Our doctor did an exam and ran a CBC count. Her numbers were so low they thought something was wrong with their machine. They ran it again and same results. So, they sent us to the hospital to have more accurate labs done. They numbers were even lower there! We came back home after the hospital labs but our doctor soon called us and told us to bring her back to the hospital to be admitted. No one had answers at that time so Thursday night was a very long night!!

Our diva didn't want the pulse-ox on her toe b/c she thought it would mess up her toe nail polish! (one of the sweet nurses brought her in more polish:))

Daddy never left her side!

Friday morning labs showed numbers still decreasing so they told us we had to do a blood transfusion very soon or she could go into congestive heart failure.

This was Friday morning before the transfusion

and Friday after the transfusion!

We got to leave Friday evening. We were all glad to be home. We appreciate all of the calls, texts, messages, and especially prayers! We know our God is a healer! We still have to continue to pray that Anna Kate's body will start producing the red blood cells again on her own, but it will be a while before we know that. Until then, lots of finger sticks to check levels each week :(

Anna Kate had her first beach trip of the summer on Memorial Day weekend. Brother stayed back at home with mimi. I'm sure he will love the beach as much as she does!!

Mother's Day Weekend

Bryant had to work all of the weekend so we packed up and headed to the beach to be with my parents. Luckily, that Friday my kids from school were visiting the aquarium so I took AK with me to be with them. She had a ball!

touch tank (she only wanted to splash.....not touch!)

Anna Kate thought she was something else running around with the "big girls"

On Sunday we had my grandmother and aunts over for brunch. Anna Kate had a great time entertaining everyone and was glad to share the attention with her brother!
