Snow Fun!!

We had a big ice/snow storm Tuesday night. We have now missed several days of school (which we will have to make up :( ). We woke up Wednesday morning to a blanket of snow covering everything! We headed out as soon as Corban went down for a nap. He enjoyed the snow last week. This week was too cold!!

Wagon ride through the snow last week

After brother woke up we dropped him off at Grandma's and headed to see Jackson and Abby and play. Uncle Rex had taken the hood off of an old car and tied it to the back of the 4-wheeler. Anna Kate had a ball!!

We have really enjoyed the snow! However, we are officially ready for spring!!

Corban's MRI

What a long day it was last Thursday! Our poor little guy was put through the ringer being pricked and poked! Things ended up working out for the better because we didn't have to use sedation and Corban was a champ through it all!

Here's a little recap of our day:

Let me tell you about the amazing God we serve! The unofficial report for Corban looks good! Our dr called about 2:30 and told us not to come in. She said things looked exactly like she thought. Benign External Hydrocephalus-meaning there is a small amount of extra fluid between his skull and brain. This should correct itself and is what they typically find in babies with big heads :) she has to meet with the neurologist to get his "off the record" report because they say the test is not legit since he woke up and moved but she said they can see enough to know there are no tumors or asymmetrical growth. There is not enough fluid to need a shunt -praise!

The testimony in all of this and what I am most amazed and thankful for is this:
God has known from The beginning of this journey the battle and fear I have faced with sedating Corban. I have never had peace about it but put Corban in His hands today after many weeks of prayer and a complete understanding that I am not in control. He proved himself ever faithful. The nurses were unable to find a vein to be able to put the sedation medicine in. We tried both hands and feet blowing at least 3 veins. Corban was in a lot of pain because they could not use the numbing medicine they typically use since it makes veins disappear. He was very distressed for at least an hour and a half and was hungry as he had not eaten since 1:30 am and had been awake since 4 am. In the midst of Corban screaming uncontrollably, me crying trying to hold him down, a nurse crying trying to get the needle in and several others trying to help, I have to say I let my mind wander to"where are you God. We need you now!" Reflecting now, He was there saying, "I got this!" He knew Corban didn't need sedation so even when the nurse found a vein, it blew! God used this rough situation as a way to make Corban very sleepy and without sedation we were able to get him asleep with no meds and get at least one good scan in the MRI machine. I prayed over that sweet boy so hard for him to stay asleep long enough to get some pictures. Another answered prayer! He woke up about 5 min into the scan and they had to stop. We have been praying ever since that they got a good look at everything even though the test was not properly done. Another answered prayer!

We have not gotten. The 100% all clear as our dr still has to speak with the neurologist but she was very confident that things are going to be fine. There is a slim chance we will have to do this again with anesthesia but we are praying that we won't have to do this!

Another update: Our dr met with the other dr who read the MRI and he had the same opinion as she did. We are going today for a CT scan just to confirm everything but his small issue should correct itself by the age of 2 - praise!

Oh my goodness the past nine months have been so much fun with this sweet little guy!!
  • 21 lbs - at dr appt last week
  • wearing mostly 12 month clothes
  • almost crawling.......so close but hasn't quite figured it out yet!
  • can scoot and roll to get what he wants :)
  • claps hands and plays pat-a-cake
  • has just begun playing peek-a-boo with story books that are lift the flap
  • "talks" all day
  • adores Anna Kate!!!
  • loves to pull on Sophie (Sophie has been so tolerant of both children!)
  • reading and bath time are his favorites!
Please say a little prayer for our precious Corban. He will be having an MRI on Thursday of his brain. His head circumference is a little off the charts and the dr wants to know why. We just know it's because he's so smart ;)

Fun over Christmas break!

I was lucky enough to have 2 full weeks off over Christmas and enjoyed every minute with my sweet babies! We headed back to Beaufort the day after Christmas to visit again with Rob, Joanna and Tucker. Anna Kate had a great time playing with all of Tucker's Christmas presents!

We also did a lot of playing at home. We got a chance to do a little shopping with Tay Tay on Monday. We went to Old Navy......

Which one of these isn't quite like the others???

We had a wild New Year's Eve (ha!) that included having dinner at Nanny's and then we headed over to Mason's house to roast marshmallows!!

New Year's Day Anna Kate and I met Melisa and Abby at the movies to see Frozen. It was a really good movie. It's the first time Anna Kate and I have been to the movie theater together and she loved it! Especially the popcorn, drink and gummies!!

The rest of the break we just hung out and around the house. It was so nice! Aunt Carol and Uncle Bennie came to visit one afternoon. Let me just say......they are troopers! Whatever Anna Kate's asks them to do....they do it!

Brother's first wagon ride.....he loved it!

Corban talking to himself in the dishwasher and trying to take off his shirt!!

Christmas 2013

We had such a great Christmas this year! We had a very busy week last week and are really enjoying having this week off at home.

On Monday we headed to Beaufort to meet up with friends for dinner. It was so nice!

We headed back to Greenville on Tuesday for the Christmas Eve service at church. It was great. It was a wonderful time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas: The birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!  My parents and brother came back with us and we cooked dinner and made cookies for Santa. We got a few good pictures of the littles before they went to bed in their Christmas jammies! AK was beyond excited!!

Christmas morning Anna Kate was up first. Corban actually decided to sleep in a little! She was so funny coming down the stairs. Her mouth literally dropped when she saw what Santa brought. She wouldn't touch anything for a long time. She just stood and stared. It was so funny!

Santa stopped here!!

Bryant's family came over for breakfast and then we opened presents at our house. We then headed over to Nanny's for lunch and finished up our evening at Grandma's, opening more presents!! These 2 little ones are very blessed!
